Safehouse's Return To Respect 2007...Helping Meet the Needs of Domestic Violence Victims |
People in all walks of life are victims of domestic violence. The violence crosses ethnic, racial, age, national origin, sex orientation, religious and socio-economic lines:
What We Do Solutions to lowering these statistics are found in the very community where the violence exists. Safehouse of Seminole provides emergency shelter to victims of domestic violence and their children. Advocates also reach out to the community by providing training, education, crisis counseling, teen violence counseling, children’s programs, and support groups. Court advocates help with the application for injunctions for protection. Safehouse advocates put themselves in the shoes of the victims, not only to understand the survival instincts, but also to change the misconceptions that there is not help available. Safehouse strives to actively place full responsibility for domestic violence on the abuser. Safehouse takes action to transform the failure of “the system” into points of protection for the victim and accountability for the abuser. In other words, Safehouse is in the murder prevention business. Help Us Safehouse is proud to offer you the opportunity to be part of Return To Respect 2007, which includes both a Golf Tournament at the MetroWest Golf Club, and a Gala at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, both scheduled for November 16, 2007. The Gala, at 7:00 p.m. on the evening of the 16th, will feature a performance by Roy Firestone. The Golf Tournament will take place at 8:30 a.m. the morning of the 16th. Join Safehouse's efforts to better the lives of the women and children of Central Florida. Together, we can make a difference. There are several levels of sponsorship available. The evening will also include both silent and live auctions featuring exquisite items donated by individuals and fine retailers from throughout Central Florida and beyond. If you would like to donate an item for the live auction (value of $1,000 or higher, please), contact Karen Ward Procell or Wendy Biles. |
